INVESTOR IN CAREERS
International Schools
The national quality standard for careers provision - now available to international schools.
Investor in Careers supports British Schools Overseas and International schools delivering a British curriculum to achieve the Quality in Careers Standard, with the same structured approach and expert support we provide to schools across England.
WHO WE WORK WITH
Investor in Careers is a Licensed Awarding Body for the Quality in Careers Standard. We work with schools operating outside England that want to demonstrate the quality of their careers provision against a recognised national framework – whether for inspection, accreditation, university relationships or to ensure students receive the same quality of careers support as their UK counterparts.
We work with:
- British Schools Overseas
- International schools delivering a British curriculum
- Sixth form colleges and schools preparing learners for UK and global universities
WHY THE QUALITY IN CAREERS STANDARD
Why international schools choose the Quality in Careers Standard
For international schools delivering a British curriculum, the Quality in Careers Standard offers something no internal review process can – independent, external verification that your careers provision meets the highest benchmark available for careers education and guidance.
Schools that achieve the Standard are better placed to:
- Provide credibility with UK and global universities, demonstrating that students receive structured, evidence-based careers guidance
- Ensure students are on an equal footing with their UK peers when it comes to careers preparation and support
- Satisfy inspection and accreditation conversations with a recognised, externally assessed quality mark
- Maintain consistency in careers provision over time, regardless of staff changes
The Standard is the single national quality award for careers education, information, advice and guidance in England. While the majority of UK secondary leaders are aware of it, only a small proportion of schools currently hold the award – making accreditation a genuine differentiator for schools committed to careers excellence.
OUR APPROACH
A structured framework, adapted for your context
The Quality in Careers Standard is not a checklist. It is a framework for sustained quality built around four stages – CODE: Commitment, Organisation, Delivery and Evaluation – that structure every aspect of careers provision from strategic leadership through to evidence of impact on individual learners.
For international schools, the Standard is:
- Aligned to English careers expectations including the Gatsby Benchmarks
- Adapted to reflect local labour markets and global destinations relevant to your students
- Flexible enough to support diverse international contexts, staffing structures and school settings
Our bespoke online portfolio gives you 24/7 access to templates, resources and your evidence dashboard – wherever in the world you are. My team and I support you throughout the process, not just at assessment.
WHAT SCHOOLS GAIN
What achieving the Standard means for your school
Schools working with Investor in Careers benefit from:
- External accreditation of careers provision against the national Quality in Careers Standard
- Clear evidence of leadership oversight and strategic management of careers
- Structured evaluation over a three-year accreditation cycle
- Confidence in conversations with inspectors, accreditors, university partners and parents
A bespoke e-portfolio for evidence upload, progress tracking and leadership reporting
KIS AWARD HOLDER SPOTLIGHT
The first school in Hong Kong to achieve the Quality in Careers Standard
Korean International School (KIS) in Hong Kong achieved the Quality in Careers Standard in May 2026, becoming the first school in Hong Kong – and among the first internationally – to hold the award.
KIS is an all-through school offering a British-style education for the English-speaking community in Hong Kong, from Early Years through to Year 13. The school’s University and Careers provision is structured around the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, with dedicated careers lessons from Key Stage 3, one-to-one guidance at Key Stage 5, and employer encounters embedded throughout the curriculum.
“The award is a testament to the hard work put in by all school staff to give students the very best of experiences and opportunities, helping to prepare them for the future. We pride ourselves on helping students build skills for job readiness.”
~ Ashleigh Vilk, Careers Leader, Korean International School, Hong Kong
