About this Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice sets out the obligations of Investor in Careers (“the Company”) regarding data protection and the rights of customers and partners (“data subjects”) in respect of their personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (“the Regulation”).
The Regulation defines “personal data” as any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (a data subject); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier, or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural, or social identity of that natural person.
The procedures and principles set out herein must be followed at all times by the Company, its employees, agents, contractors, or other parties working on behalf of the Company.
The Company is committed not only to the letter of the law, but also to the spirit of the law and places high importance on the correct, lawful, and fair handling of all personal data, respecting the legal rights, privacy, and trust of all individuals with whom it deals.
Within this Privacy Notice, we use the following terms:
- Data controller – means the organisation which decides the purposes for which, and the way in which any personal data are, or are to be processed.
- Data processor – means the organisation which processes the data on behalf of the data controller.
- Processing – includes most operations involving personal data including obtaining, recording, sharing, deleting, adapting, or altering the information
Who are the data controller and data processors?
The data controller is Investor in Careers Ltd. Investor in Careers (IIC) is the controller for all personal data required to provide support to learning providers undertaking the Quality in Careers Standard through Investor in Careers.
As the Investor in Careers e-portfolio provider, Axia Ltd is the data processor. Axia processes personal data on behalf of IIC, in respect to information which relates to learning provider details.
The type of personal information we collect
We collect and process personal information which may identify you as an individual. The categories of personal data that we collect, use, store, and share (where appropriate) are outlined below:
- Name of Careers Leader and Head of organisation
- A second named contact of the Learning Provider’s choice
- Learning Provider address including postcode
- Email address of main and secondary contact
- Contact telephone number
- Learning Provider name
- Learning provider bank details to facilitate financial transactions
Your Data Protection Rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
- Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
- Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
- Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain limited circumstances.
- To withdraw your consent to processing, where we are relying on consent as the lawful basis to process your personal data.
- Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
- Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances, if you object to the continued processing of your data, we will weigh up your objections against our grounds for continuing with the processing.
- Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain limited circumstances.

We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and are committed to compliance with the general data projection regulations (GDPR and relevant UK registration). This notice explains how we use and share personal information which may be collected online, on paper or by email, telephone, or in person by Investor in Careers Ltd.

Investor in Careers adheres to the principles of these regulations in respect of processing data as Controller for our business purposes.
As a registered data controller Investor in Careers is committed to complying with data protection legislation and good practice including:
- collecting and processing personal information only in order to meet our legitimate operational needs whilst fulfilling legal requirements
b. collecting only the minimum personal information required for these purposes and not processing excessive personal information;
c. processing personal information fairly and lawfully;
d. maintaining an inventory of the categories of personal information processed by CSW Group and establishing appropriate retention periods for this;
e. keeping personal information accurate and, where necessary, up to date;
f. retaining personal information only for as long as is necessary for legal or regulatory reasons or, for legitimate organisational purposes;
g. respecting individuals’ rights in relation to their personal information, including their right of subject access and overall ensuring that data subjects’ rights can be appropriately exercised

i. providing data protection training for all staff and promoting good practice in data protection;
j. ensuring that staff handling personal data know where to find further guidance;
k. ensuring that queries about data protection, internal and external to the organisation, are dealt with effectively and promptly;
l. ensuring that a nominated officer is responsible for data protection compliance and is the point of contact for all data protection issues;
m. that complaints and/or breaches of data security are dealt with in accordance with Information Commissioners Office (ICO) procedures.
